Once I stumbled through life, tripping over trivialities and misconceptions. Once I lived as a doomed man, struggling against monsters of my own making. Once I looked forward to death because it would release me from a useless life of cold despair.
Thanks to the grace of a loving God, and the faithfulness to Him of those around me, my life is now completely different. Once an atheist who fancied himself an intellectual, my life is now in the hands of a kind and gracious Lord. He is taking much better care of me than I ever took care of myself. My story is simple, yet it still amazes me.
I suffered terribly from ulcers. The day I gave my heart to Jesus I met a man of God named Clifton Coulter. He pointed to my stomach and said "You have something right here". Did I ever! I had been diagnosed with two stomach ulcers, a duodenal ulcer and a hiatal hernia. "Jesus wants to cure you" he said, and placed his hand on my belly. Fifteen years of pain vanished. That was in 1991, and I am still ulcer-free to this day. I can eat whatever I want. A real God genuinely cured me.
What a gift! Now when doubts enter my mind, I become aware of my pain-free innards, and I have no choice but to believe. My life has completely changed! I am a free man because I have given my heart into the captivity of a loving God, and His son, my saviour.
This same gift is yours for the asking. Believe me, I know the objections: I lived them out for many years. You do not have to change to become his child. Simply acknowledge Him, and his power over your life, and He will change you! Serving Him requires only a belief in Him and in Jesus Christ as His son.
Try it! You will be different! He promises!
