Week Four: March 25 through March 31

The one who does not love does not know God, for God is love. This manifested the love of God in us, that God has sent His only son into the world so that we (the world) might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His son to be the sacrifice for all of our sins.
1 John 4:8-10

The idea is not that we love God, although that is important. The point is that God loves us, and He loves us so much that He sent His son to die for the sins of the entire World. When the word says "all of the world", that is a big place and includes all people on this planet. This has shown me that even those whom I might not see as lovable or "following God" were given by God the same gift He gave me. It is all about how much He loves us, all of us, and has nothing to do with how much we love him, or what we might do. This leaves us free to love God without the burden of being "good enough or doing enough" to earn His love. Let us settle this now: There is not enough we could do, and we can never be good enough to deserve what God has done for us. It was a gift, free and clear of obligation.
